The most interesting part of my book so far was learning about how each killer went about their homicides. I also liked learning about what factors into someone murdering others. Why people are necrophilic, why people are pedophilic, or gerontophilic. Often times it's because of childhood experiences. It makes me wonder about all the kids who experienced abuse, emotionally or physically, and didn't grow up to become serial killers. Other killers had not been necessarily abused, but still ended up being deranged killers. One example of this is Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy was not abused, but he did have some family issues, such as being raised by a viciously racist grandmother, who got a kick out of hurting family pets. "Even so, there is little in Bundy's background to account fully for the sheer malevolence of his adult behavior" (Schechter 160/161). In the end, Bundy murdered 30 women.
It is hard for me to believe that even 10 year old kids could be killers, that they could be capable of cold blooded murder. Mary Bell, a young girl who was subject to horrendous torture by the hands of her mother, strangled two little boys in 1968. Mary Bell is more proof that murderers can be someone you may never expect.
Wow! I've never heard of a 10 year old serial killer before. Can you talk more about the circumstances of her murders? Was there a reason she strangled them? Or was it completely random? It sounds fascinatingly horrible!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I've always wondered why people would want have the urge to take someones life away. It's weird how people who haven't been abused can still be a cold blooded killer. But it all has to do with the mind, some people just have deep routed feelings that they never expressed or have been ignored. People who keep in emotions without releasing them in a healthy matter (like writing or drawing) become murderers because it's like they couldn't handle what they we're keeping inside anymore and they explode in a violent way.
ReplyDeleteI've always been fascinated by serial killers in general. I've always wondered what happened to them to cause them to kill and to be the way they are today or before. I've read all of your blog post and i've found them all to be very interesting, good job on them all.
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteWow!Your blog is very interesting.I have always had a strange fascination with serial killers. You do a good job of informing us of factors that can transform someone into becoming a serial killer. Does your book talk about other factors that might play in? Is it really all just those circumstances? You talk about how even a young girl was capable of murder. This topic is very intriguing to me and I would love to learn more about it. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! Ive always wondered what makes people go out and commit such horrific crimes. Its weird to think a 10 year old is capable of murder. Great job on your post!
